The Juice Bar by Ally Green

January 2020 - The Juice Bar

About the Image(s)

This was shot in the Seychelles last year and we were strolling through a local market when my eye captured this guy selling his tropical juices….I just like the way he looked and since it was a grab shot he is slightly out of focus. I did a bit of sharpening in Topaz DeNoise which helped but I could have done with a cleaner shot to begin with but I liked the composition. The light was fading too…F4. 1/60, ISO 400.

Your composition sure does say "juice"! All that fruit is in the right spot and in a big long line that leads right up to the big juice container and individual drinks. The fading light is perfect in that it lights up the fruit and the juicer man in a soft, not contrasty sunlight.

I've become super-sensitive to bright things as distractions. So I did some editing on your image as if it were my own. I lightening the highlights of the background and the area below the fruit. I'm hoping it doesn't look too artificial. Was it worth my time? Do you think it helps the main point of the image or doesn't matter?   Posted: 01/11/2020 13:47:39

I really liked how the sun enhanced the vendor and all the fruit on the table. It feels like a fun place to be as I look outside at the snow. Looking at the vendor, he looks deep in thought. I found the man in the back a bit distracting but it was a quick shot. Good "j" photo.   Posted: 01/25/2020 12:52:47

This is a bright colorful image. You filled the frame and have good composition. I like Carole's adjustments.   Posted: 01/31/2020 17:23:26
