Portrait of the Sea Otter by Donna Sturla

April 2021 - Portrait of the Sea Otter

About the Image(s)

I was at the zoo and watching the Sea Otters scurry around. They don't sit still for but a moment ! I finally got a picture of this one, and there was a great deal of background that was disturbing me so I cloned it out with the darkest color in the background (which happened to be another otter). Then cropped to portrait size. I just love his face.
Shot with Nikon D7000, lens Nikon 200 mm, shot at ISO 640, 1/320 sec., at F 5.6.

I love this shot. Great detail in the fur and whiskers. Even got the glint in the eye.   Posted: 04/08/2021 09:17:23

Thank you ! He held still for a nano-second so this was a lucky shot.   Posted: 04/17/2021 17:57:00

Great capture of an active creature with lots of detail in hair and fur! Good job with controlling background distractions. With the otter's head turned to the right, you can see waterdrops on his whiskers which stand out against the dark background.   Posted: 04/17/2021 15:35:05
