Inauguration Tulip No. 1
My wife gave me a tulip garden in a basket for Christmas. It was fabulous to have tulips blooming in late January! In this shot, the tulip itself did not work photographically so well. The stem was fabulous. So, I cut the top part of the tulip. Does it work? In the second version, I cut the tulip entirely. Which do you like? The first, second, or neither? Shot with a Canon 5D Mark III, Sigma 50mm 1.4 lens, 0.3 sec at f / 8.0, stack of 35.

Doug, of the two images as they are, I think the second one is really cool. I would MAYBE crop a bit off of the top main stem,
but it's lovely.
On the first image, I would prefer to see the flower - I think cutting it in half doesn't work well.

I like the first image because the flower adds some color. Even though it is not a perfect flower showing it would have been better for me.   Posted: 02/13/2021 11:30:43

Interesting image and I can see what you saw. The leaves are cool. I wonder if removing the stem all together should not have given you a better image. Also from what I see of the flower it alone would have been beautiful also. You did a great job with the background.   Posted: 02/13/2021 16:39:16
