Last Dahlia of the Season by Diana Duffey

November 2020 - Last Dahlia of the Season

About the Image(s)

How I did it: Took this image with my Sony a7r4 with the Lensbaby Velvet 56-ISO 100, SS 1/13. I did not write the F-stop down and it does not record. I made some minor adjustments in Lightroom and took it into PS . In PS, I did a Levels adjustment and added a texture. I brightened the center a bit in Lightroom. Your comments are always appreciated.

Stunning. That's all I can say. It's beautiful. I wish I understood how you get the background color to match the flower, but clearly I will have to learn how to do that with the software I have. Thank you for sharing your lovely Dahlias with us !   Posted: 11/13/2020 19:10:28

Really beautiful. Glad that you kept the stem in the photo. You captured the crispness of the photo while still maintaining the softness of the flower. Great job.   Posted: 11/14/2020 00:01:32

Beautiful dahlia. The background really enhances the flower. The flower is sharp all over.   Posted: 11/14/2020 11:15:35

Thank you, Donna, Lori, and Rich for your comments. This flower was a small flower bud on one of the Dahlias I was cutting down at the end of the season. I decided to bring it in the house... I am glad I did.   Posted: 11/14/2020 18:13:15

To offer a different point of view. I prefer the background being more contrasty. To me, the flower merges with the background here. Makes it hard for me to look at the beautiful flower.   Posted: 11/23/2020 12:24:08

Doug, thanks for your suggestion.. I am working on selecting textures that will enhance my flowers. Hope to improve.   Posted: 11/23/2020 13:35:48
