About the Image(s)

How I Did It -

Back in April, 2019, I attended the annual cherry blossom festival, Sakura Sunday, in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park. Along with the Taiko drummers and martial arts demos were Japanese fan dancers moving in slow stately fashion. Sakura Sunday is one of my favorite outdoor concert events to photograph because it is very accessible and easy to get up close to the stage.

I shot with my Nikon D750 plus 70-300mm Tamron lens handheld at 1/4000sec, 185mm, f/5.6, and ISO 3200. In LR and PS, I cropped in, burned in the background to reduce highlights, slightly dodged the face, and increased vibrance.

Take care and stay healthy!

Hi Mark, I think the shot and colors are very nice. I would suggest that you remove the purple flower and green leaf .Your eye goes directly to the flower growing out of the fan. I removed the flower and leaf and sharpened the image and this is what I got.   Posted: 05/10/2020 10:08:02

Mark, great detail and color. I like what you did to the background. The delicacy of the event was captured. Very nice!   Posted: 05/14/2020 08:11:46

I like the flower in her hair !! I think this is a lovely image, and what makes it for me is her finger pointing upward! It's just beautiful. I love how you blurred the background.   Posted: 05/14/2020 14:02:26

Great image with all the colors. The flower is very nice with the added color. Did you do 1/4000 because she was moving? I like to composition just showing the top half of here body. You probably took some full length images also.   Posted: 05/15/2020 14:33:45
