December 2019 - Seen Better Days

About the Image(s)

How I Did It - This image was taken during a photoshoot visit to an auto junkyard in New Jersey, back in March. Many cars were so old, they were overgrown with lichens. I shot with my Nikon D750 plus Nikon 24-120mm lens on a tripod at 56mm, f/11, 1/640 sec and ISO 800. In LR, I adjusted exposure, clarity and vibrance, and in PS I sharpened and reduced image size.

Thanks, and Have a Happy Holiday!

Mark, I LOVE textures and I think this is a great picture as far as textures and colors ! Keeping the handle/doorknob or whatever it's called, really makes it interesting. I think I would have liked to see the door handle more to the left of the image, in the lower 1/3 of the picture, and maybe leave out the other handle. Having both of them there makes me look back and forth at the handles, where to me the textures is what is so interesting. Anyway, I like it !

Very interesting image with all the colors of the lichen etc. There is a nice reflection on the handle. The colors are great. This image would look great on a wall.   Posted: 12/12/2019 17:40:15

You certainly have captured the progress of nature.. The lichen are almost the star here. Great color and composition.   Posted: 12/14/2019 15:38:39

Mark, indeed a nice image. The complex variety of textures makes it interesting. This old car has been under the element for quite some time, if you take into consideration that lichen grows about 1 to 2 mm per year. Great colors.   Posted: 12/24/2019 08:26:43
