A few weeks ago, I went to St Petersburg, FL for the annual Mud Wars. A field of fit, energetic, and crazy young people from 19 to 30 somethings came to win. All competitors challenged each other in deep, gooey, black mud. Events included volleyball, kickball, obstacle course, tug of war, bumper tubes, and much more. Volunteers stood ready with fire hoses to douse down contestants coated with mud. Great fun! In this image, one fellow on the Tug of War team appears to have realized I was photographing the event, and might have forsaken 'pulling' for 'posing.' What do you think? :-)

Christina, I can just feel that mucky, gooey, black mud! A very impressive image of strength and also of a fun event! Very well composed and very sharp!   Posted: 08/19/2019 21:45:43

A compelling PJ shot that really draws you in! The low angle emphasizes that this is largely a contest of leg power. And with one exception, you caught expressions of exertion on everyone's face. The posing man, looking out at the viewer, breaks the head-down pattern of the other contenders and adds interest to the composition. And what is he saying? I tend to think he is calling back to his team members to "pull harder!!".   Posted: 08/19/2019 22:32:28

Great image of the tug of war. You can see all are really working for their side. Good composition. I can feel the mud on my legs. Ugh!   Posted: 08/24/2019 13:38:44
