Conifer Droplet by Mark Aksoy

About the Image(s)

Taken on a Club photoshoot at nearby Chanticleer, an outdoor Greater Philadelphia botanical garden, back in spring. Walking down a trail with my Nikon D750 camera plus Tamron SP 90mm macro lens, I came across a fir tree retaining water drops from a recent rainstorm. In a test of my camera’s ability to shoot at very high ISO, I shot handheld at 1/250 sec, f/51, and ISO 16000. This gave a sharp image but with definite noise. In Photoshop, I adjusted exposure, increased clarity and vibrance, and reduced noise.

Mark, this is the third I am typing a comment... I hit return instead of submit and my comments disappear! I like the image in your raindrop. A nice find. Nice composition and nice color.   Posted: 08/19/2019 21:35:24

I find this image compelling. To my eye, it is beautifully composed. Simplistic and mysterious at the same time. Good eye for seeing the potential as you passed by. The reflection in the water drop fascinates me as well. I like that the water drop is off center to increase interest. Helpful to hear of your very high ISO. Well done.   Posted: 08/23/2019 15:06:47

Interesting image with the water droplet just held in suspension. The reflection in the droplet is very cool. It looks like your 16k iso works.   Posted: 08/24/2019 13:42:37
