There are so many things to like about this image, Donna. The composition is exceptionally well done with the image being placed in the third power point. In addition, there is an implied diagonal between the foreground and the background mushroom. I like the fact that you have used selective focus to focus our eyes on the foreground mushroom and not on the background. This already excellent image might be enhanced by decreasing some of the very bright green in the background as well as toning down some of the bright white highlights also in the background which tend to pull our eye away from the main subject. See VF. Well Done!!!   Posted: 06/10/2018 11:10:20

I am visiting from Group 62 and I really like this image. The foreground mushroom makes a wonderful point of focus! VERY NICE!

Like John, I felt that the picture might benefit from a few minor tweaks. Thus, I reduced the brightness and saturation of the sky (and cropped it a bit), tried to emphasize the mushroom cap and added a bit of vignette. Your thoughts?

Thank you, Oliver, I like how you cropped it.
I have a tendency to want everything in the picture, and am getting better at cropping, so I appreciate the feedback !

Donna, I'm glad you like it. Much of the cropping that I did was an attempt to eliminate some of the sky which was so bright that it distracted from the mushroom. The vignette also helped darkening it.

I've often heard that the secret to photography is to minimize what's in the picture. Don't know that I agree with this, but I do like to identify what I want the focus point to be and then reduce or eliminate any other distractions.

You have a "good eye", so definitely keep at it!

Thanks ! I saw your picture from the LBGTQ and really liked it. The reflection in the sunglasses was great, but there were so many comments I didn't think you needed another !
But a very nice image.   Posted: 06/16/2018 19:08:49

Thank you, Donna. We're delighted to have you visit Group 62... AND to give your input! I looked at your bio and saw that you're quite an experienced photographer! When I have a few moments, I'll look back at earlier months so I can see your style.

Have a good weekend.

Nice image of the mushroom which is very sharp with he blurred background. I like John's mod to the image. The colors stand out more.   Posted: 06/16/2018 19:20:32

A very nice image, Donna. John and Oliver have made some good suggestions.   Posted: 06/17/2018 16:21:04

The composition for this image is well shot except I feel that the background can further reduce the f stop from f16 to f5.6 so it will keep the main subject in focus.   Posted: 06/25/2018 08:44:02

Thank you, David. The trees are not in focus. Maybe I should have put them less in focus?   Posted: 06/25/2018 12:34:12

Good capture and seeing. Love the blur of the background. Might try to darken the background slightly   Posted: 06/26/2018 06:18:24

A compelling image of forest mushrooms. The low angle gives it impact and makes the mushrooms appear larger than life. However, the background (sky and trees) is too bright and detailed, therefore distracting from the main subject. I agree with Oliver about selectively toning it down. In future, you might try shooting similar scenes with more selective focus (larger aperture), thereby further blurring the background.   Posted: 06/27/2018 18:57:21
