About the Image(s)

Tudek Park is where my wife and I like to go for a walk. They have a nice old barn here and I am always attracted to old barns. I did the usual LR adjustments and then decided to try out the new PS Replace Sky tool. I have a library of skies and I rep1laced the rather bland sky with one that had a nice cloud to go behind the tree. It was as simple as that it even adjusted the lighting from the cloud image to fit the lighting in my original barn image. Since there was very little color to start with, I decided to use Silver Efex Pro and make it into a Black and White. I think I may try this in competition.

Great image John. I love the PS Sky Replacement. There isn't a day I don't try it on something. Bought Luminar for their sky replacement but find PS a bit easier to manipulate although Luminar has a great selection to choose from. I think this is a great competition image. Good luck with it.   Posted: 04/11/2021 11:26:29

Bev, You know that if you want to enter a sky replacement image it (including the new sky) must be your own work. That is why I like PS sky replacement better because it is quite easy to replace with you own sky images.   Posted: 04/11/2021 11:54:46

I like your B&W better than the color. Your sky choice is very good. I would try to open up your tones a bit more. To my eye, the darker grays dominant. Will say you have inspired me to try sky replacement in PS. I have done it in Luminar with mixed results. Like this composition very much!   Posted: 04/11/2021 13:34:46

I like the cloud behind the tree. The fence is cut off at the bottom. It may be my laptop screen, but the image seems a bit flat. More contrast in the sky?   Posted: 04/15/2021 10:35:39

Hi John

Nice sky replacement and nice composition. Small niggles from me:
As suggested by David G, the overall image seems a bit flat. Could it be brighter?
I also love barns. Could you take out the metal cylinder on the right? It spoils the tranquilty for me.

Hi John, Good conversion to Black and White. The sky replacement, particularly the area behind the tree, is very effective. You have highlighted that perfectly shaped old tree. Very nice composition. Keep the silo, it's part of the farm scene. Brighten the image up a bit and you will be a competition winner!   Posted: 04/19/2021 11:37:25

Hi John- This is my 3rd time giving my comments but somehow I lose them and I can't get them back! I hope I don't lose it again.
Your tree turned out much better in mono than in color but the BG of cloud behind the tree needs to be a little bit lighter to bring the tree stand out much better. If you try you will see the difference!
John I never heard of Sky replacement in PS. If you can give me some info on this. Thanks

The sky replacement that you selected enhances the photo. To my eye it could use a bit more definition in the clouds. I also feel that the shadows in the barn could be brought out a bit more.   Posted: 04/23/2021 19:48:35
