Spring Time FL Style by Debbie Perez

April 2021 - Spring Time FL Style

About the Image(s)

I went up the St Johns River recently on a boat to see some local birds. Thought this little Snowy Egret sitting in the spring time greenery made for a nice photo. I was on a boat shooting hand held with a Canon 7D MII fitted with a Sigma 150-600mm lens. I cleaned up some branches in PS but kept most of the greenery. I did add a bit of sharpening and cropped out some on the viewer's left. It was nice to get out in the world again but I missed a whole lot of shots, need more practice. Hope everyone is doing well!

I like the leaves in the foreground. Good focus on all. It would have been easy to have the bird only. Like the space to the right.   Posted: 04/15/2021 10:44:17

Very nice job of handholding while in a boat, no less. Whenever we head south my wife and I enjoy when the egrets come in to rest for the night. I took some shots on our trip to South Carolina but the birds were not settled down enough. I would prefer to see just the bird and crop off much of the right hand side.   Posted: 04/18/2021 15:27:50

Hi Debbie, You are very good at producing movement free images. Heavy, long lens, being in a boat and producing a sharp image...great work! The white Egret against the green leaves is stunning. I think I am in agreement with John regarding cropping along the right side of the image.   Posted: 04/19/2021 12:17:08

Debbie-Beautiful shot of the white Egret-well placed-handheld on the boat and still very sharp. FG leaves stand out very well but I would go further to blur the BG branches which catch your attention rather than cropping from right side.
