Yellow Rose by Debbie Perez

January 2021 - Yellow Rose

About the Image(s)

The roses are still blooming here but some are less tolerant of the frost we have. I noticed this rose was shorter than those that surrounded it so I used a 100-400 zoom to help compress the background. In photoshop, I further blended the background using the blur and smudge tools. I also used healing and cloning to clean up a few im perfections on the rose itself. I liked how this turned out.

Very nice, Debbie. I like the soft, dreamy look of the image. No roses here in this area except at the florist. You broke the rule about centering the subject, good choice as it puts total emphasis on the rose.   Posted: 01/15/2021 15:48:36

Nice complementary colors. The rose looks soft but I think that's appropriate.   Posted: 01/16/2021 11:31:57

Debbie- You produced a very pleasing image the way you did. I think you left no room for further improvement except my eyes white spot right in the middle at the bottom and a couple of dim light lines on the edge of the right side of leaves. Otherwise, It's a perfect image!

In my opinion you did a nice job editing the background using the blur. I would like a bit more sharpness to the center of the rose. I also feel that a vertical crop would lend nicely and would get rid of some negative space.   Posted: 01/23/2021 16:58:48

This rose turned out very nice. I think the lower petal on the right is a little bright. I would like to see the left hand side cropped so as to get the rose off dead center.   Posted: 01/26/2021 20:17:15
