White Lily by Debbie Perez

November 2020 - White Lily

About the Image(s)

Not many places to go these days that aren't crowded so I head back to the lily ponds. This was a newly opened blossom. Shot with a 70-200mm lens at f/3.5 handheld. I'm always impresses well how this lens does. Cropped this a bit and used a bit of Topaz Studio 2 Abstraction which has a detail feature that I think works quite well. Didn't think it needed anything else.

I agree with your comment that the image doesn't need anything else. The lighting is very good. I especially like the shadows on the petals. The yellow center surrounded by the white petals gives a feeling of purity. I can see some texture in the smooth petals. Very nice.   Posted: 11/13/2020 12:04:04

very pretty. Wish the shadows had more contrast. I think the background is good with me.   Posted: 11/16/2020 12:04:35

You did a good job bringing this photo of the flower just to the edge of highlights and not blowing it out. Your eye moves around but settles naturally to the yellow center of the lily in your photo which is nice. I does help that this lily's petals to the right of the center are opened a bit breaks it up a bit.   Posted: 11/16/2020 19:21:18

Debbie-You are right! You did very well with your lily using your gadget like Topaz which I never used it. The main common interest lies in the yellow color of lily. However, I do agree with David's comments if given a touch of more contrast on shadows would improve the image better. Good job Debbie!

Very nice lily image. I am still thinking whether or not I like the green leaf background. The right had side of the flower looks a little blown out.   Posted: 11/26/2020 14:29:24
