About the Image(s)

This original image falls into the category of one that I would normally just delete. I was trying to get the trees, the water (still and rippled) and the reflections and as I said the image from the camera left me thinking, “delete it”. But then I looked at it and said what would I have if I cropped out the trees. The image began to look a little better so then I decided to crop out the “still” water and I began to see something that might have some hope. I adjusted the vibrance etc. and all of a sudden I have an image that might even make someone believe I had an artistic “bone” in my body. I entered the image in our local camera club weekly competition and it was a winner so now you see it.

I like this reflection and think the colors are lovely. I think you could also create a beautiful abstract by cropping this from the bottom and some from each side to focus in on the golds, yellows, orange and greens. Mother Nature does such lovely painting and you captured it nicely!   Posted: 11/16/2020 11:35:49

certainly is much more colorful. my mind has trouble with abstract and therefore I can't appreciate it as I know I should.   Posted: 11/16/2020 12:01:56

I really like what you did with this photo. The colors pop and you know because of familiarity that it is fall colors reflecting in water which helps the viewer connect with this image. Nice.   Posted: 11/16/2020 19:14:33

John- You improved your image a lot by tight cropping, enhancing color saturation of rippling reflection and the sky.
It looks much better to me than the original image. What if you flip the image with the sky up and add birds to the sky. What it would look like? Try it if you feel like it.

Hi John, I'm all for abstract work so I can really appreciate this image. The colors are so bright and shout out Fall on the Water. I also like the ripple/texture effect. Very, very nice. Explore your "artistic self".   Posted: 11/26/2020 14:15:53
