June 2020 - Day Lily

About the Image(s)

Had a photo of this daylilly in my flower folder and isolated and combined it with a colorful background. f9, 1/1000 sec, ISO400, 105 mm.

Love your choice of background. It makes the daylily the star. I think I would open up the shadows on the flower and try to pull more of the center glow out of the flower. Nice job!   Posted: 06/11/2020 08:24:34

I watched some Photographers use cloth backgrounds to isolate flowers. Simple and very effective. One Pro took nine images to make one real sharp image.   Posted: 06/11/2020 08:33:30

David- You did a good job keeping your BG out of focus and lily pretty sharp. 105mm is a good lens for this kind of tabletop setup. Debbie's suggestion makes sense to me also. Otherwise, it looks great and a beautiful image.

Hi David, Striking image particularly with the chosen background material. The colors are similar so they work very well together. An extra treat are the shadows of the stamens on two of the petals. Nice lighting, good focus and composition....good work.   Posted: 06/22/2020 15:40:12

Nice flower image background compliments it nicely. I would remove the flower pod it is a bit distracting in it's present area.   Posted: 06/25/2020 20:10:02

A nice capture of the flower and your choice of the background. I can't think of anything to do to improve this image. I might try moving it a little to the left or right to get away from the center.   Posted: 06/27/2020 13:37:21
