Pair of Geese by Allen Calopisis

May 2020 - Pair of Geese

About the Image(s)

This was taken with my Nikon D500 at 1/2000 sec, ISO 400, F5.6 and at 400 mm. I did editing in light room to remove distractions and enhance the geese. Used a white vignette and a black Paulene border. I like the energy that was in this photo of the geese fighting.

I like what you did to it. There are some distractions in the water beneath the bird on the right. White and dark spots. Just had a course where the instructor thought borders were passe. another opinion   Posted: 05/15/2020 14:23:39

Like how you soften most of the background and agree about removing distractions that are in the water. Might look at brightening the birds a bit since the background is light and I think it might give more detail the geese if they were brighter. I'm not a fan of borders or edges but yours doesn't distract and offers a bit of balance so I'm okay with it.   Posted: 05/18/2020 13:34:15

I find the different border to be refreshing. The birds would benefit from some additional space on the right side. Jesse.   Posted: 05/22/2020 13:06:50

Allen-You took a great take of a shot of pair of the geese Probably afternoon is falling on the Geese in the right direction giving a warm tone effect on the birds. With tight cropping and border around keeps your attention right on birds. Yes, there are some white spots around which can be removed in PS easily. Good job Allen!

Allen.....Your image looks like an Owen Gromme print. The border is a perfect addition. The image itself is well done. I like the composition with the subjects being just below the center of the frame in blue water; framed top and bottom by the gray of the sky and gray of the water. So very nice!   Posted: 05/25/2020 20:30:34

I like the post processing that you have done with this image. I hope that you got lots of shots with the geese fighting. This particular one does not show their fighting very clearly.   Posted: 05/26/2020 20:23:24
