John Larson, FPSA, MPSA
I am very happy to join Group #9 and I am looking forward to an educational and fun experience. Just a little bit in the way of a biography and about some of my interests. I am now 71 years young, a retired engineer now teaching math (now only part time) at Southeastern Community College and married to Ruth. For thirty-eight years I worked as an engineer with both General Electric and Marathon Electric. During that time my responsibilities included managing all of the engineering computer efforts, primarily CAD and CAM. I also had the opportunity to use the computer (IBM compatible) for many reports and presentations related to work. At my college we are using several multimedia programs and the internet to deliver Online Courses. I am now in my fifth generation of a home PC, starting with a Radio Shack Color Computer (just a couple of years ago, ha ha) and now with a clone Pentium IV.
My first digital adventures were by having slides scanned to CDs, then a Canon D-30, followed by a Digital Rebel (just replaced by Canon 20D) and for carrying while snow skiing a Canon A720. Some of my other hobbies are photography, started with some classes in 1991, joined PSA in 1994 and sports of several varieties, especially skiing in winter. This combination gives me an excellent chance to blend for example skiing and photography and now computers and photography. I exhibit in PSA exhibitions and have Galaxy 2 in PID, Galaxy 5 in PJ and three stars in Travel and Nature. I am also the administrator for PJ Digital Imaging and direct the PJ Quarterly Competition. You may note on my web site http://johnlarsonphotography.zenfolio.com/ that I do have the ability to convert digital files to slides and that is available to you if needed.
I look forward to reviewing all of your work and look forward to your comments. Please visit my web site listed below for more about me and more of my images. Thanks for letting me join this group.
