About the Image(s)

We are moving house at the moment, I rush to edit Bombo big wave photo for this time only.
The black/white one was from Sept 2019; same time token as last last month one. I also wish to know whether color or black white photo which is better?

I am partial to black and white and find myself drawn to the black and white picture. I do find it a tad underexposed overall and the brightness of the sun exacerbating the underexposure and pulling my eye from the wave. You have really captured the majesty and power of the wave, you should make sure that is where the viewers eye goes.   Posted: 05/09/2020 13:50:29

Thanks so much Paul for your really good advice! I will do more work on it! Thanks a lot!   Posted: 05/10/2020 19:05:01

Did you use a filter to make the sun flare? The flare is very effective. I like the color better, for one thing because the sea area in the black and white seems to look like it could be rocks, and it also has more grain. You really did capture a big wave, and I think that it shows up better in the color.   Posted: 05/09/2020 14:23:13

Since you used a high level ND filter, the B/W came out completely different impression. It looks like a shot at night.(I had a similar experience) or looks like a image before storm. I am wondering what shutter speed you setup when you add a ND1000, shutter speed should be quite low, but I do not see the blurred water waves.
Great shot! you captured a big waves. People live near ocean
can often encounter the big waves.   Posted: 05/13/2020 23:27:48

Dramatic! The composition is marvelous. I love your wave and sunstar. I like the color photo better. The grainess (noise) of the photo bothers me. If you don't like it, I have had good luck with noise reduction using Nik software. Original 3 could be cropped to give the wave and sun more prominence. I like the transluscence of the wave in that shot. What fun to have these to work on!

Here is another one with same kind transluscence of the wave. Hope you like it.   Posted: 05/25/2020 06:19:46
