Buena Vista Poppies, Livermore by Barbara Mallon

May 2020 - Buena Vista Poppies, Livermore

About the Image(s)

This is half a mile from my house. Every year it gets better. The flowers are California Poppies, our state wide flower. Again an iPhone photos. I brightened, burned, and removed some grass and spent flowers. It is a bit more graphic than my usual style.

The California Poppies are eye catching and beautiful. Great example of the use of complimentary colors. I like how you have drawn attention to the foreground. While orange really pops, no pun intended, against the white wall, overall, the viewer's eye is strongly pulled into the wall.

I really like the bright colors and the sharpness. However, I do agree with Rich that the white fence area is a distraction since it is the brightest part of the image.   Posted: 05/09/2020 10:30:31

The poppies are remarkable. Rich's comment on the complimentary colors is rights on target. When I first looked at the image the fence did not bother me, but the longer I look at it the more I agree with the others. I do the the picture very much, even with the fence.   Posted: 05/09/2020 13:33:29

I also like the bright color the California Poppies, and also feel the white fence is distract to the image, but it's still a very impressed image and feel life is so bright and color.   Posted: 05/11/2020 03:39:48

That is our lovely flower California poppies. I also took a lot of such flowers.
Your photo is very particular. You use the white fence to clearly separate the foreground from the background. Good composition!   Posted: 05/13/2020 13:47:02

Thanks Tony, I was anticipating changing the fence color but to what? Now I can keep it.   Posted: 05/14/2020 17:57:20
