About the Image(s)

This past weekend at a regional wholesale plant farm, I captured an macro image of one plant’s stigma and style. In processing I applied sharpening, dehaze and slight clarity. Equipment: Nikon D850, Micro 105 mm f/2.8, tripod, LCD light panel.

Great lighting. The image is also sharp where it needs to be with a nicely blurred background. The bright colors have a lot of impact. The composition is very good, with the sharp area in a power point position, and the stem a lead in to it. I do not see any way to improve it.   Posted: 05/09/2020 10:28:10

is background color real? I love it! Beautiful and the color is very impressed. I may make the flower a little big in centre.   Posted: 05/11/2020 03:07:38

Yes Grace, with the exception of a small boost with Vibrance, it is the real color.   Posted: 05/11/2020 13:58:52

I love the colors and the contrast between the sharp and blurred sections. I also think that it is artfully composed. Very, very nice image!   Posted: 05/11/2020 12:21:22

Very nice close-up flower image. You use short depth of field to focus on the stamen with sharpness and all around blurred.
Is this flower call Hibiscus? I like and familiar it from my childhood. I saw a lot in Hawaii with different color.   Posted: 05/13/2020 13:33:11

You did it! The color is arresting; the diagonal composition is appropriate. and the subject is gorgeous! The only possible improvement would be to crop from the right to get rid of most of the dark out of focus hole of the bottom of the bloom. I would crop all of the top light spots and then darken the one left at the bottom. I find it attracts attention.

It looks like a hibiscus to me.   Posted: 05/14/2020 17:54:38
