About the Image(s)

This picture is at Washington State Palouse Wheat Field. The photo was taken from summit 3600’ high Steptoe Butte. Seen from summit they look like giant endless sand dunes with different color blocks. They are lush shades of green when the wheat and barley are young. They are dry shades of yellow/brown when the crops are ready for harvest. Palouse hills are landscape unique in the world. When you standing on the summit, you can find countless attractions that can be shoot. I almost took 70 GB photos.
This image is by Sony NEX6, set at f/5.6, 1/80.

Very, very nice. I would love to say I made this image. Only one thing that bothers me, and that would be the white sky at the top. My eye seems to get trapped up there.   Posted: 03/15/2019 15:48:34

Hi, Les,

Tony, you have really good lighting to bring out the hills. I too have been to Palouse and Steptoe Butte. It is really a remarkable area to photograph. There are also nice barns and other buildings in the area to add interest to landscapes. The problem with my images from Steptoe Butte is that they look flat. The lighting and the contrasting colors really makes this image something special. Nitpicking, but I would crop just a small amount at the top to get rid of the white.   Posted: 03/21/2019 20:22:13

Really nice capture, Tony. So colorful and late afternoon shadowing is ideal. In the distance I favor seeing the mountain tops, so I changed the exposure and saturation of the sky.   Posted: 03/22/2019 17:05:29

Beautiful image. I particularly like the way the hills seem to roll on forever. I am also of the school that would crop out the white sky, in my opinion, it detracts from an otherwise remarkable capture.   Posted: 03/27/2019 11:16:49
