Hummingbird by Barbara Mallon

About the Image(s)

I took this photo of a hummingbird when he backed away form my feeder. His body was stationary and I used a flash. This is a small part of the image. I cropped out the feeder and rotated the bird. I brightened and sharpened his eye. I over-sharpened a bit as I see a white line around him in places. I need to work on that. It is a 640th of a second at Iso 400.

Got to love God's little creatures like hummingbirds. Like the side view and the sharpness from upper body up. One thought about controlling sharpening might be to add a layer to use for sharpening, then back off opacity if needed. Nice capture Barbara.   Posted: 01/14/2018 14:46:25

Really nice job of capturing the hummingbird. His eye and head is super sharp with some movement shown in the wing. The angle of being underneath the bird is very effective. You may want to crop some off the bottom to help make the bird less centered.   Posted: 01/16/2018 09:05:42

The result is very beautiful. The contrast of sharp head and moving wings makes the photo. The composition is simple but the picture is nice. If the feeder was a nice one it would certainly add to the composition.   Posted: 01/16/2018 09:21:02

Nice hummingbird image with very sharp eye and head. The wing and tails parts shown in motion are blurred. I would see the whole picture. If picture with the feeder it might be also a good composition.   Posted: 01/24/2018 01:03:15

Amazing shot. How did you work on the post production? What software do you use?
