Good Morning, Jean.
You found a very beautiful rose specimen to photograph. Again lots of possibilities to experiment with. Since the rose was not centered I cropped it from the square presentation to a slight horizontal one. Square presentation, I feel, only works with a few subjects. I like the way you caught some dew drops as they add to the picture. I darkened the shiny spots on the rose and blurred out the background a bit.

I think this is lovely. Pretty flower and love the rain drops. I might have cropped out just the top part to hide the dark red of the bud, and then added a dark vignette around the edges. Alternatively, I'd add an even darker vignette to take away the attention the dark red bud gets.   Posted: 11/11/2020 16:16:56

Jean, the color of this rose is striking and the dewdrops reinforce the sense of freshness for me. This single rose is lovely. What a great find!

My eye is also drawn to the dark red bud and I think Sandra's suggestion would work to avoid this. I also agree with Janet's ideas to try a square crop and reduce the details and bright spots in the background. For me these suggestions, applied in her version of the image, work to highlight the beautiful rose.   Posted: 11/15/2020 17:29:26

I agree with what the others have said. I feel the background is distracting. I also feel the rose is not sharp.   Posted: 11/22/2020 21:28:35
