I have taken photos (and I think posted them) like this one, too. I like yours better. I love the variation in textures, colors, and shapes. I also love the dusting of snow (which doesn't happen here in L.A.). It just adds a nice touch! Nicely crisp photo, too!   Posted: 10/16/2020 17:35:51

Hi, Jean.
Intriguing capture. Lots of possibilities here. Spent a great deal of time looking over the details and my focus kept coming back to the area left center. So I tried a crop and horizontal flip. Then darkened a few areas here and there. Mostly just experimenting.

Janet really made some great changes to this image. Like the impact she made to the image. I really like the flip. The flip improved the composition.   Posted: 10/18/2020 15:56:25

Hi Jean,
I, too, am fascinated by the interesting textures of peeling birch bark that you've captured against this bit of bokeh background. I like the strong diagonal lines and wonderful tonality that I see in this image.

My eye is drawn to the piece of suspended bark at the far left. I think Janet's horizontal flip and crop work to enhance the strong lines and emphasize the suspended bark, as my eye moves from left to right across the image.   Posted: 10/18/2020 16:00:08

The colors and textures in this photo are wonderful! I also like how the image was cropped. There is plenty to see in what you photographed. The background nicely complements the colors in the bark.   Posted: 10/20/2020 15:25:18
