About the Image(s)
I spent the day shooting the Taupo Rodeo late last year and this is a favourite from the shoot. Processing included quite a lot of work to diminish the background (blur and saturation), dodging and burning.

Wow! Mark, you captured an astounding moment. It's fascinating and, in a way, a bit horrifying. The bull's eyes (and horns!) are clearly focused on the person in the red outfit. That's one of the things that gives your image such wonderful intensity.
I like how you've diminished the background without making the image look unnatural. And, removing the "slobber" from the bull's face was beautifully done. Nice work!!
The only thing I notice that you might want to address is only a small nit. There seems to be a tiny white fringe at the lower back of the bull's frontmost leg.

Many thanks Oliver. I thupink the fringe is careless sharpening…I will check it out   Posted: 03/01/2023 13:03:41
Mark, this is a great action photo. I like photographing Rodeos and alwasy have a hard time due to low lighting. It looks like you had the correct spot and good lighting. Love the dust. The only suggestion I have is to darken the womens white hat.   Posted: 03/01/2023 18:16:05

Jim, I wish that I could take credit for this wonderful photograph, but, alas, it's Mark's.

Mark, this is a great shot! So much action frozen in time. I think Pete has really summarized my thoughts. Jim did some really good work getting the post painted in.   Posted: 03/04/2023 16:08:34
I have taken many rodeo shots but never one as good as this. Sophia's point about darkening the white hat of the spectator is a good idea. Great image Mark, this is certainly a medal winner in a PJ competition.   Posted: 03/04/2023 16:40:22

A great action shot. I think that every way of improving the image has been suggested already.   Posted: 03/13/2023 05:37:37
