About the Image(s)
This shot was bracketed and processed with HDR Efex Pro. I used Topaz Studio to add a little painterly effect.

Mark, I like this image and I think that you added just enough painterly effect to create a dreamy peaceful image.   Posted: 02/09/2021 17:12:00
I completely agree with Richard... your dreamy and peaceful effect is wonderful. When I look at it, I feel like I've discovered a beautiful, secret place. I could see your image illustrating a discovery book.
My eyes went immediately to the silken waterfall. I assume that you want it to be the focus of your photograph. With this in mind, I decided to try emphasizing it even further. To that end, I darkened the small pool in the front of the waterfall and I darkened and desaturated the yellow ferns on the right. Hopefully, this didn't lose the dreamy effect that you achieved. Your thoughts?

Thanks to all of you. I agree that Oliver's changes make the falls more prominent. I left the yellow area a little bright because I was attracted to the dappled light pattern in the scene. Perhaps it is distracting. Another case of less is more?   Posted: 02/14/2021 15:40:20
I love both treatments; there is a magical feel to your image, Mark, which takes me into another world. I think darkening the small pool and ferns does help us focus more on the falls, and makes for more magic. These falls are the kind of discovery we are all looking for, and you found it.   Posted: 02/13/2021 21:29:20
You achieved your goal Mark. Yet perhaps Pete's changes do add enhancement, either way it is lovely.   Posted: 02/14/2021 15:57:54
This was another image I found hard to comment on and I didn't know why. After seeing Oliver's version I now know why and I think he has done turned a good image into an outstanding picture.   Posted: 02/20/2021 06:13:07
