About the Image(s)

I took this image at the Building Museum in Washington DC. One of the activities at the museum was a large "ball pool" for children. There were dozens of little kids having fun. This little girl's expression attracted my attention. With the lens that I had on my camera, I couldn't isolate her completely. Thus, in post processing I cropped out the other child and much of the area behind her. Then, I adjusted the color balance and modified the lighting on her face.

Photograph Data: Canon 5D Mark IV; 24-70 f/2.8 II lens; 1/125 sec; 70mm; f/5.0; ISO 1600.

Pete, you have a winner! You captured the expression and the feeling. The lighting is excellent and everything is sharp. The cropping is spot on.   Posted: 05/04/2019 16:46:49

Thank you, Richard. Since it was handheld and I had to do a significant crop, it's not quite sharp enough to make a good (and large) print. Nonetheless, the resolution seems to be reasonable for online viewing.   Posted: 05/06/2019 15:03:26

Barbara, I appreciate your comments! I had a bit to do with the cropping and colors, but catching the expression was shear luck.

I love this image, Oliver (or should I call you Pete from now on??). It's very well composed and captures the joy of the little girl beautifully. I wouldn't change a thing.   Posted: 05/06/2019 06:06:36

This is a very nice image; cropped perfectly; and of course, the wonderful expression on the child's face.   Posted: 05/23/2019 19:12:02
