Hat and Flowers by Barbara E Miller, FPSA, MPSA, EFIAP

January 2019 - Hat and Flowers

About the Image(s)

I enjoy table top, particularly so because I don’t get out to shoot as often as I once did
This was set up using a blooming orchid that seemed to make a nice frame. The BG is an old net curtain; with a bit of tweaking these tend to that lend themselves to fall in soft shapes. This was rather much as it came out of the camera, Slight adjustments in Clarity and Structure in Viveza was used

Barbara, this is such a wonderful composition. The soft, flowing background perfectly sets off the charming hat and vibrant orchid. Beautifully done!

I'm at a loss for any improvement suggestions.   Posted: 01/05/2019 08:57:56

Barbara, I agree with Oliver, it is a wonderful composition; however, the orchids maybe a little too strong. My eye goes back and forth between the hat and the flowers. The hat itself is an interesting study of texture and colors.   Posted: 01/05/2019 16:25:47

What a beautiful creation............a most artistic work
Although I like this image, I think one of just the hat would also be terrific!   Posted: 01/08/2019 18:40:07

You do some very nice table tops. There is a lot to look at here; I would have to agree with the others that leaving out the flowers would still leave a very nice image. I might add a frame.   Posted: 01/15/2019 15:41:15

I think this is a lovely composition with a very interesting colour palette, Barbara - very attractive indeed. I'm not sure about the white lines at the edge of the orchid leaves as they look as though they might be halo artefacts caused by over sharpening. If it were mine, I'd clone them out together with the small white triangle at the bottom right hand corner of the image.   Posted: 01/17/2019 04:15:06

I agree that the flowers could be easily eliminated. By the way, I can easily see you wearing this hat and looking lovely in all your glory. Happy New Year   Posted: 01/31/2019 07:05:14
