About the Image(s)

Went to a NWHL (National Womens Hockey League) game in Stamford, CT this year. This is #24 Sarah Hughson. Struck up a conversation with a lady which turned out that #24 was her niece. She was asking about gear and equipment, take pictures of my stuff.. had a good talk. She asked if I had gotten any picture of her niece. I couldn’t give her a definitive answer because I had taken about 500 at that point, but I got her info and when I went home and downloaded what I had I had found a few that were good. Edited and sent them to her. Got a friend for life now.. :)

What a terrific capture! Her face shows the intensity of the hockey game and her position on the skates makes her movement seem alive. I'm sure that her aunt was absolutely thrilled! Well done!!

My only suggestion would be to remove the stand area that's above her head. Since your image benefits from the headroom above her, I suggest simply extending the white wall upwards a bit. Here's what I'm thinking.

What a nice thing to do and I can imagine how pleased the aunt must have been with your work. Excellent image Phil but as Oliver suggests the crop at the top is necessary. Other than that it is an image that should do very well in competition. Hope to see more of the 500 shots   Posted: 01/06/2019 07:03:08

A very nice action shot; well framed. Along with cropping off the top, I would lighten the yellow stripe that appears behind the skater.   Posted: 01/15/2019 15:55:49

For me, this is a good sharp image which gives a definite feeling of movement Phil. I Think the dark area at the top of the image is rather distracting though and, if it were mine, I'd clone it out. I also get a sense that the hockey player is a little cramped in the frame and that it would be an even better image if you extended that area around her to give her more space.   Posted: 01/18/2019 01:29:21
