About the Image(s)

As I passed a nearly empty store in Frederick Maryland, the soulful expression of the dog next to the Closing sign caught my attention. My post processing was fairly basic, consisting primarily of straightening the vertical side of the window, correcting the color, adjusting the lighting and final sharpening.

Camera data: Canon 5D Mark II, 70-200mm f/4L; 160mm; 1/200 sec; f/9; ISO 200

Nice image; it captures the sadness of the final days of a business. The post processing is right on.   Posted: 06/01/2018 15:31:45

Thank you, Richard. I wasn't sure how people would react to this image. When photographing a subject behind a window, I always struggle with how much to clean the window in Photoshop. I left this one a bit dirty since that seemed appropriate for a shop that's closing.   Posted: 06/02/2018 08:41:39

This is an instance of having one's camera always handy--but perhaps with smart phones that is no longer the norm.

A practiced eye to capture this Oliver, it tells a good story--great for PJ! I like the addition of the dirt on the window (or the sign). Just for experiment I might have removed the hairs from the pup's L eye and added a glint, but the image is good as is.   Posted: 06/03/2018 10:04:33

Thank you, Barbara. I still like the versatility and image quality of my camera over my iPhone. Also, it lets me work in raw which opens lots of post-processing capabilities.

I tried adding a bit of a glint to the pup's L eye and I also did just a small additional cropping on the left of the image. Your thoughts?

you added the glint to the puppies R eye. I neglected to say his colouring is just lovely, but above his L eye there is a small something I would get rid of   Posted: 06/03/2018 15:45:09

I like the original and I am probably the only one in the group.
I think a little too much yellow was added to the original image. Putting a glint in the dog's eye works very well. I may have tried to copy the frame to the left side and top to frame the entire image.   Posted: 06/18/2018 14:07:13
