Kieu-Hanh, this is a very nice composition. The subject is well placed in the frame and adds a nice pop of color in an otherwise neutral surround. The sunlight off the water in the foreground leads the eye right to the woman and her barge. Your image makes me want to go there! You didn't mention anything about your post-processing and I'm curious. The bridge and sky seem a bit bright and I feel it takes focus away from your subject. I wonder what the effect would be if you decreased the highlights and brought down the exposure on the bridge and sky? Another technique would be to apply a radial filter to the barge. Speaking of focus....I'm always a little wary about commenting on image sharpness here due to the minuscule file size of the images we submit, but it does seem a little soft - perhaps due to the slow shutter speed? I've been amazed at what Topaz Sharpen AI can do in situations like this   Posted: 04/06/2021 09:55:02

Hello Kieu-Hanh,

Lovely image this month. This photo looks like a good composition for a travel photography competition. Do you ever enter your pictures in competitions?

I like the stone bridge, the calm water, and the three stone turtles in front of the bridge; they add interest. The sky is plain, but there is enough to fill the space from the treetops that it does not bother me. The woman and her boat are the apparent subjects, and her boat has red pops of color so the viewer won't miss her. I also find she aligns pretty well on the golden spiral, making this a lovely scene.

I find some sensor spots in the sky on the left side of the frame; this should be easy to remedy. A little more space on the photograph's left side would help give the subject a little more breathing room. I agree with Michael, the exposure is a little high and the highlights are bright.

Well done, Kieu- Hanh, and thanks for sharing.

Thanks Michael and LuAnn for your comments. I only enhanced the color using Levels in Photoshop.   Posted: 04/08/2021 15:29:31

This is a lovely image. I really like the colors of the woman and the boat as well as the reflections of the trees and boat in the water. My suggestion would be to try to take down some of the brightness/highlights on the bridge and the sky. Nice photograph.   Posted: 04/10/2021 16:59:16

Kieu-Hanh, I really like the composition of your image with the direction and angle of the boat. The bright colors of the boat give it a great pop of color. I agree with the others that you could lower the highlights/ brightness of the bright and sky. The image has possibilities as a travel photo.   Posted: 04/14/2021 11:25:23
