About the Image(s)

I took this photo at Bodega Bay, CA, on Sep 23, 2020.

I am attempting to get a feel of the exhilaration and the cold. The horseback rider is in the center of the photo and I am reluctant to crop to "uncenter" as I like the feel of the entire photo.

Camera Settings: 1/160; f11; 135mm; ISO 100 Nikon D500 with Tamron 18-400 lens

Mary Ann, going against your wishes, the center location kind of creates some odd tension. Also your rider is kind of silhouetted so I took the liberty of adding some light to the shadows and crop it. Added a little dehaze as well.   Posted: 10/04/2020 16:23:12

Isaac,

That is a beautiful edit! The horse and rider step out of the image; awesome. Mary Ann will love this edit.

The galloping horse on the beach is a very interesting image to me, especially with the cold and foggy scene. You were also able to capture the horse with its foot off the ground.
I'd prefer to lighten the rider's face a bit more, and crop a bit tighter on the left (just close to the large building on the top and before the 3 birds)   Posted: 10/05/2020 06:42:42

Kieu-Hanh,

Do you have time to do a quick edit to show us how you would make this change?

Isaac has made nice edits by lighten the rider's face and crop to avoid putting her at center of the image. I'd prefer to leave a bit more space on the left because there are houses and the large building on top.   Posted: 10/07/2020 04:45:56

A very interesting shot. I love to see horse and rider in motion on a beach or in the surf. I think Isaac create a great edit.   Posted: 10/10/2020 10:29:02

I like that you've captured the smile on the rider's face and the movement of the horse. The rising mist gives me a feel of the coolness of the beach and the excitement of riding on such a morning. I do appreciate Isaac's edit, since I prefer the rider to be riding into the space and not be in the center.   Posted: 10/16/2020 10:25:38
