January 2020 - He’s My Brother

About the Image(s)

Happy New Year, everyone! This photo was taken in September as part of a series of images I took for my granddaughters’ birthdays. For this one, my oldest granddaughter spontaneously scooped up her brother on her back. I thought it captured their enthusiasm for life and love for each other. Taken with my Canon EOS 7D, f 8, 1/180, with my husband holding a gold reflector. Post processing included dodging and burning and sharpening.

The catch of light in their eyes highlights their faces.
You caught the happiness of the moment that only children seem to emit.
Sharp, well balanced lighting and details.   Posted: 01/17/2020 14:05:59

So cute! They are adorable and you can feel the love they have for you too. They are focused and smiling and playful. Very nice capture.   Posted: 01/20/2020 11:47:44

You did a great job in capturing the perfect moment between your grandchildren. I like how you blurred the background and had the lighting just right on their faces. In processing, I love how you handle the sharpness, clarity, and softness of their faces. You also did a great job of catching the light in their eyes. Great moment!   Posted: 01/29/2020 11:09:49

Nice portrait. Composition is very good. Their body position conveys action and a playful closeness. The lighting and shadow is good. It provides additional character without being overpowering. I think a slightly more shallow depth of field say f5.6 might create more attractive bokeh for your background.   Posted: 01/29/2020 20:00:44

I love the crop of your image! The diagonal lines created by the 2 children are dynamic and even though they looked at your camera, their smiles and their interactions with each other are so natural.
The image is sharp and the light is also beautiful. Well done!   Posted: 01/30/2020 22:44:42
