Milkweed by Kieu-Hanh Vu

October 2019 - Milkweed

About the Image(s)

This image was taken last week at the garden in VA. This milkweed plant is grown to attract monarchs to the garden. The seed pod split open with silky fibers captured my attention.

Exif data: Canon 7D Mark II, lens 16-35 mm, ISO 100, F.5.0, Speed 1/125.

I have not seen a milkweed open up like that. Well done.
My only suggestion would be to use a higher F stop, like F8 or F10 to make the pod seeds in the back ground sharper.   Posted: 10/10/2019 12:37:23

You have captured the fine wisps of the milkweed seed nicely. The blurred background helps us see the detail well. I agree that a higher F stop would help ensure sharper focus on all the seeds spilling from the pod

I like how you've captured the movement and wispiness of the milkweed fluff. Having the background blurred, lets my eye focus on the details of the milkweed. It looks like you even show a bug almost hidden in the fluff on the bottom right side.   Posted: 10/27/2019 16:11:39

Very cool plant, I don't know that I've ever paid attention to one. Now I'll look for them. I like the blurred background and the white tufts seem to be in focus all around the plant.   Posted: 10/29/2019 11:36:00

Beautiful. Sharp focus, good composition and color contrast. You captured the delicate whisps of the milkweed really well.   Posted: 10/30/2019 21:33:12

You handle this milkweed beautifully. You did a great job of bring out the sharpness, clarity, and textures. I love your composition and square framing. Well done!   Posted: 10/31/2019 19:16:29
