On the Shore by Ruth Sprain

October 2019 - On the Shore

About the Image(s)

I took this image while on the Alaska ferry along the inland passage at dusk. My Canon EOS 7D was at f/22, 1/250. I dodged and burned, cloned out a wire, then added a painting filter to the image.

Nice capture. I would not mind living there. Is the pebbling in the clouds due to the painting filter you used?   Posted: 10/10/2019 12:33:39

Yes, the texture of the whole image is from the painting filter.   Posted: 10/10/2019 19:43:05

The composition is nice with the red roof house, the lighthouse, and the mountains. The painting filter adds more details to the sky. I'd prefer to lighten the foreground a bit to see more details of the trees.   Posted: 10/21/2019 23:19:09

A beautiful peaceful scene. The red roof and the red in the lighthouse add interest to the otherwise fairly neutral scene. The reflection is an added bonus

Very well done, I like the red and white in the 3 buildings. Nice little outcropping on the water. Nice reflections too.   Posted: 10/29/2019 11:32:03

I love the red roof. The separation created by the shore line and horizon create a dramatic feeling of presence versus infinite. The shadow in the tree line is a bit dark for me.   Posted: 10/30/2019 21:30:35

I really like your composition. Love the reflection and the red roof. I also, like the painted filter you use. It's not overdone, well done! I agree with Jim on the tree line being a bit too dark.   Posted: 10/31/2019 19:09:14
