About the Image(s)
Believe these were stragglers just seen last week on Lake Conway, AR, near Little Rock, where in the summertime you can see many white pelicans at this small lake. Nikon D610, hand held, aperture priority, 500mm, f/8, 1/60 sec, ISO 100. Numerous adjustments in Lightroom, including flipping horizontally and cropping, Nik filters to highlight the pelicans and neutral density filter to darken around them, Photoshop to clone out one stump to be able to enlarge pelicans.

Wow, they must be really cold in AR in February! I love the composition, especially, flipping it horizontally. I think perhaps the background got a bit too dark, at least on my screen. The sun appears to be almost directly overhead due to the shadows cast by the pelicans. The pelicans are very bright. And by darkening the water behind them to this extent, just doesn't feel natural to me. Just my opinion.   Posted: 02/06/2021 15:47:18
I understand what you mean but wanted to give the impression of missing that flight to Florida and getting late. I hadn't thought about it not looking natural because of the sun on them. Thanks.   Posted: 02/06/2021 15:50:48
Shirley,
I love the title. One can almost imagine a forelorn look in their eyes to add to the title. A descriptive title adds a lot!
I like getting rid of the stump and flipping the image so that the pelicans are looking L--> R. However, I feel that the vignette/darkening seems a bit much for a mid day shot.   Posted: 02/07/2021 12:29:04

Yes, I like it better. Do you?? That's the important question.   Posted: 02/07/2021 13:39:55
We see them in Oklahoma, your neighboring state, but not as many this year for some reason. I always thought the flight was from or to New Orleans?
I agree that getting the white to show well is a challenge - the pundits say the morning "golden hour", but that's way to early for me!   Posted: 02/09/2021 14:08:48
