About the Image(s)

This image was shot with my Nikon Z7 using a Sigma 105mm macro, ISO 160, f/9 at 1/1000 sec. I cropped in on this to get rid of a number of the lily leaves, cleaned up the debris, lifted the shadows, and did some spot removing. After I was happy with that, I took it into Topaz and added a texture look of oil painting. I would like to enter this into F3C’s (Florida Camera Club Council) Triannual Competition so any and all feedback is well. Thanks in advance.

Great image of a sensational flower. The angle of the flower is just right The background is perfect and the sharpness is also.   Posted: 10/04/2020 12:31:38

To me this is perfect. The flower color contrasting with the green is beautiful. I like the shadows within the flower and the shadow reflection in the water. The angle and cropping and your choice of Topaz filter really makes it pop. Good luck in the competition. I think it's a winner.   Posted: 10/04/2020 15:47:26

Shirley, thank you so much for your kind words and the details of exactly what you liked in my image. That really helps.   Posted: 10/06/2020 02:20:34

I agree that it's a winner. Its impressive how the background brings out a 3D look with the water plane looking flat and complementing the flower. Retaining the whites is just right - without a polarizer?   Posted: 10/09/2020 15:56:45

Thanks so much, Piers, for pointing out the 3-D effect. I don't think I actually saw that until you said it. Right, no polarizer used.   Posted: 10/10/2020 07:27:52

I live close to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square PA which has a beautiful garden of these types of flower. Gorgeous! The angle of the flower and the textured background really make your bloom pop right out of the photo! Love it.   Posted: 10/13/2020 07:51:22
