About the Image(s)

Taken April 26th, 2019 along the Delaware River. Chasing a sunset while also playing around with a newly purchased go pro, I could not resist the gold shinning everywhere. This image was: shot RAW and processed with Affinity, White Bal, Vibrance, Contrast, highlighted, split toned,etc....the original had nice tones but they transfer in weak to the software. I cropped to this area but I also like the original with three layers.
Nikon D750; F/22; ISO200; 1/320sec; 24-120 @ 46mm

I like the monotone shades in your edit better than the original. I also like the crop. I like the couple framed by the fence and other objects. The top of the fence hides the shoreline though & I wish it was just a bit lower.   Posted: 08/06/2019 11:14:09

Thanks. I tried to use the sun drops as my main idea while trying to recreate something from the RAW image. I tried to use the fence for the industrial shorline and really did not think to include...I'll have to attempt this again.   Posted: 08/21/2019 05:57:52

I believe the leading line of the railing with its reflection really makes the shot. In my opinion the fence (if that what it is) is confusing in the foreground and am not sure what I am looking at. I wonder if you pulled out some of the shadows, if it might give more definition to the image. If it were shot again, I feel it would be better to show the horizon of the water edge.   Posted: 08/19/2019 17:51:01

Thanks. Yes, I will attempt again. :)   Posted: 08/21/2019 05:58:34

The right gold railing is a great lead-in to the trees, so I would do a horizontal flip. I agree about the city part of the horizon so I would try to clone that part of the railing out (combination of eraser and close stamp).   Posted: 08/19/2019 22:27:34

Thanks. A very interesting perspective. I never thought of that!   Posted: 08/21/2019 05:59:19

Thanks Hung. I always try to choose my problem photos that I know could have been captured another way!   Posted: 08/21/2019 06:01:05

While I like the improvement from the original in the tones displayed.
However, there is no central subject in the image. The people referred to in the title are far too small and there is a lot of clutter above the railing to the shoreline. Even cloning out these distractions is difficult because there is a chain ling fence above the railing.   Posted: 08/20/2019 10:26:15

Agreed. As I look, I thank you and everyone for their opinions. It was difficult with the sun so high before true sunset and I was actually trying to catch the reflections of light on the railings as that is what caught my eye first. Luckily, this location is close for another try. As far as the sun position right now, we'll see how it falls on the concrete and iron this time of year!   Posted: 08/21/2019 06:05:11
