Ox Cart by Al Swanson

March 2019 - Ox Cart

About the Image(s)

During a recent visit to the Tubac, Arizona art festival, I found this oxcart being displayed in a outdoor enclosed gallery. I took several images from different positions and enjoyed this one the most. While it does hide the front end of the cart, I think the shrubbery adds something to the image. I turned it into a black and white and adjusted several of the contrasting features. Then I added a vignette to enhance the aging look of the article. This also help to increase the highlight of the surrounding shrubbery and I think that helped set off the oxcart.
F8; 1/160; ISO 400.

Interesting image - it looks like it was taken in a field. My only suggestion would be to try to blur or soften the dark colors in the upper center behind the cart.   Posted: 03/09/2019 12:40:19

Al: Nice conversion to B&W and good composition despite the cart front end not being visible. The detail behind the cart should be softened and darkened, as Laurie also suggested.   Posted: 03/12/2019 16:07:16

Al, very nice. I have been to Tubac, and I believe this would be a perfect picture to sell in one of their shops. I like everything about the perspective and your processing.   Posted: 03/22/2019 16:05:27
