Malibika, this looks like something from a sci-fi movie that would look pretty scary on a big screen. I believe your monster is tack sharp, great detail on his body, good depth of field. Although it would mess up your ratio, I wonder how it would look to crop about half of the background to put more emphasis on him--scarier! Also, as long as you were not entering this in a nature competition, perhaps a little cloning of the grass might take away some of that distraction. You certainly do travel resulting in some interesting subjects.   Posted: 06/04/2018 16:11:19

Very interesting composition Malibika. You got him with his tongue out and I suppose sniffing for a snack. I might crop in closer just to capture that great prowling stance, but a great wildlife image no matter what.   Posted: 06/04/2018 17:21:09

Thanks Shirley and Gary for your feedbacks. I try to keep either 2*3 ratio or 9*16; in this case kept the latter.

Yes I do want to use it for nature category and that's why did not do any cleaning job. Have taken many shots of this lizard, before it vanished inside the water.   Posted: 06/06/2018 09:53:09

Using it for a nature competition gives a whole different set of rules!   Posted: 06/07/2018 18:17:28

I am looking for King Kong in the background. A very interesting and striking image. You can't this one well and with a great pose. I was going to suggest cropping this down just a bit, but in looking at it again I believe that having a little more sky ads some surrealism to the overall image. You've done a great job on this one. Al...that's not the sky but the water in the lake with the reflection of the trees around it. The sky was overcast and therefore the color of the water is such...

Malabika - if you have enough pixels for for a close up, I think the picture is this. The lizard's head is nicely framed by the plant. You may disagree, but my passion is always on the animal's head rather than including the whole body. But, it's just a matter of my taste.   Posted: 06/09/2018 09:45:58

Thanks Harry,
that's another image all together and I like it too. Now I am a bit confused which one should I use for salon participation!!! :)   Posted: 06/22/2018 09:48:13

Great image. Your tripod must have been set very low! Harry's crop is OK but I think the power of the hind leg gives it some perspective of strength, so my cop would be about half way down the tail, also cutting out some of the foliage on the right; and leaving one third sky at the top.   Posted: 06/13/2018 16:01:05

Thanks Piers,

I will definitely try out this option as well...   Posted: 06/22/2018 09:50:05
