Birds and Clouds by Sol Blechman

April 2021 - Birds and Clouds

About the Image(s)

The sky, plus the snow capped mountain is what drew me in. It's rather ordinary but sort of striking anyway, I think. No special editing other than I did add the birds.

This reminds me of an image I saw in my first photography class taken by a famous photographer (can't remember which one) that I always wanted to emulate and still haven't had the luck to come across anything close. Lovely image.   Posted: 04/01/2021 19:15:35

White snow and interesting clouds highlighted in a blue sky with the main subject, birds in flight. This would look different as a large panorama, cutting out the top of the image which includes the dark birds against the blue on the left. In the near foreground the patches of unforested green could be brought out better with dogging.   Posted: 04/09/2021 11:51:16

Very appealing image with the sharp vivid clouds against the deep blue sky.   Posted: 04/15/2021 17:47:42

I like that you added the birds. They do create more interest. I might have deleted a lot of the flock. Showing that many in different positions, tends to keep the eye wandering around the image. It could be that you could try to just include the three that have similar wing pattern. The dark birds that are over the clouds near the middle would give a place to rest the eye.   Posted: 04/20/2021 14:51:34

Beautiful capture of the clouds. Gives a sense of what it felt like to see that in person. I agree with Dennis that a few birds would have been enough. They don't really look natural for that environment and having so many give a Hitchcock feel to it.   Posted: 04/20/2021 15:28:27
