Common Periwinkle by Neal R. Thompson, M.D.

August 2020 - Common Periwinkle

About the Image(s)

Sony 6300; adapted Canon Macro 100 mm; 1/10 second (tripod); f/13; iso 100; This was on a hike in the hills. It was taken at different focus levels (manual), probably less than four and processed with Helicon focus. I like the outdoor photos since there is a background and I feel the dark background is complementary to the flowers here. Sharpening and color burning and dodging.

Great 3 dimensional shot! Layout and composition are excellent too.

Makes me want to look a little lower when out on my next hike to find a image like this.   Posted: 08/06/2020 19:07:52

Neal, beautiful image, sharp, great color. I find very interesting the effect produced by the stroke inside the image. It makes the lower flower come out of the frame.....   Posted: 08/11/2020 07:31:28

It's lovely in many ways and the framing is perfect. I find the image is split between the two flowers, a problem made a bit more intense by the brown diagonal leaf. Still, when looked at as a whole, I like it.   Posted: 08/11/2020 18:18:58
