About the Image(s)

At a local rodeo she was on a horse but from a distance I was able to get sort of level with her. I probably shot it at 500-600 mm. Also, the reason the image is cropped rather tightly is that she was holding 2-3 year old son on her lap and I wanted to crop him out. A couple of other images with mother and child are interesting but didn't quite work. Straight processing after lightening the shadow under her hat.

Very appealing image. I'd like to see further lightening of the shadow under the hat, particularly the eyes. Did you have to blur the background? Very sharp.   Posted: 10/12/2018 10:47:00

Sol--Were you on a tripod or handheld? If the latter, what an amazing shot at 500-600mm! The tight crop didn't bother me.   Posted: 10/12/2018 11:23:31

Hand held but probably at 2000th of a sec shutter speed. Wide open lens at f 2.8.   Posted: 10/12/2018 14:48:00

Really nice portrait. Love the sharpness of the hat with a softer look on the face. I actually think the slight shadow o the hat works here. Impressive that you handheld for this. Love local rodeos.   Posted: 10/22/2018 11:28:00

I think it looks good. You might try to dodge the right eye area a bit. Normally, I wouldn't like the way the hat merges with the border but in this case, I don't see any problem with it since it looks intentional.   Posted: 10/22/2018 18:12:58

A nice candid good mood shot. I guess including all of the hat and more of her collar would of been nice. But you captured the best, her, having a great day. Now famous on PSA!   Posted: 10/26/2018 14:12:32
