At a local rodeo she was on a horse but from a distance I was able to get sort of level with her. I probably shot it at 500-600 mm. Also, the reason the image is cropped rather tightly is that she was holding 2-3 year old son on her lap and I wanted to crop him out. A couple of other images with mother and child are interesting but didn't quite work. Straight processing after lightening the shadow under her hat.

Very appealing image. I'd like to see further lightening of the shadow under the hat, particularly the eyes. Did you have to blur the background? Very sharp. Posted: 10/12/2018 10:47:00

I think it looks good. You might try to dodge the right eye area a bit. Normally, I wouldn't like the way the hat merges with the border but in this case, I don't see any problem with it since it looks intentional. Posted: 10/22/2018 18:12:58
