Tulip by Joey Johnson

October 2018 - Tulip

About the Image(s)

There is a spiritual retreat center here in the foothills that plants tulips around their grounds. They bloom in spring and the grounds are open to visitors to wander around and enjoy the beauty. This is just one image I took that day. It was a great place to play with my micro lens.

Nikon D800, Nikkor 105 lens, 1/3200 at f3.2, ISO 400.

Very sweet ! Is most appealing and very strong impact. Maybe tone down the hot spots a bit more?   Posted: 10/10/2018 15:09:27

The detail in the peddles is very nice. The hot spots need some toning down. the contrast in colors is nice as are the
out of focus lighter areas which give some depth to the image.   Posted: 10/12/2018 10:43:17

Joey--I agree with the other comments. Contrast between red flowers and green background adds dimension. And reducing the highlights on the petals (if you can, of course) would be helpful.   Posted: 10/12/2018 11:21:49

That image almost jumped off my 27" screen! Very real and vibrant with super detail in the petals. Just enough angle in the stem. Good blur in background. Overall color scheme is simple (two colors) but the image is alive.   Posted: 10/14/2018 13:03:19

I'll go along with the other comments, especially the bright spots on the background foliage. Could you have stopped down the lens a little to get the entire tulip in focus without bringing out too much detail in the green areas?   Posted: 10/22/2018 08:30:00

It's alive! You might of tried exposure bracketing as I'm thinking under exposed might of helped with the hot spots leaving the Tulip bright.   Posted: 10/26/2018 14:08:26
